Easy Easter Activities to Keep the Kids Busy

Let’s be honest, keeping the kids entertained over the holidays isn’t for the faint of heart. Easter is one of those lovely, chocolate-filled occasions, but between sugar highs and shouts of “I’m boooored,” you might be thinking: when exactly is it my turn to sit down for five minutes?

Good news: I’ve put together a few easy-peasy, no-stress Easter activities that will not only keep little hands busy, but might just buy you a precious moment to enjoy a cup of tea (and, let’s be real, probably some chocolate too).

Here’s what’s on my Easter survival list this year:

1. Easter Colouring Activity Pack

Colouring is the unsung hero of quiet activities, isn’t it?

My printable Easter Colouring Pack is ready to go whenever you need it - just print it at home and let the kids get stuck in. It includes:

  • A fun “decorate the Easter egg” sheet

  • Two colour-in postcards (perfect for sending to friends and family)

  • A full A4 Easter themed colouring page

  • And a classic “spot the difference” game for a little brain workout

Download yours here.

2. Decorate Your Own Banner Kits

If your kids love to get crafty, my Decorate Your Own Banner Kits are perfect for some Easter creativity.

They’ll love designing their own Easter-themed banner to proudly hang up, and you’ll love the fact that it keeps them occupied while you sneak a quiet moment and doesn’t rain glitter or shaped confetti all over the floor every time someone brushes past it.

Huge bonus with these banners (and the reason I created these kits) is… if your kids struggle with perfectionism, their fine motor skills or are just a little young to stay in the lines when colouring in, they can set their creativity free without the fear of whether their creation will be recognisable. Once they’ve finished with their watercolours or crayons they can peel off the stencil to reveal a crisp image surrounded by their beautiful colouring.

Everything they need is included in the kit - just add creativity, imagination and maybe a few extra stickers for fun!

3. Easter Egg Hunt (With a Twist!)

Of course, it wouldn’t be Easter without an egg hunt! Whether you go full garden extravaganza or keep it simple in the living room, this is always a winner.

A few ideas to spice it up:

  • Use Handmade Hippo Easter Egg Hunt Tote Bags for collecting treasures.

  • Add a twist with clues! Write simple rhymes or draw picture clues to extend the fun.

  • Use eco-friendly filler ideas (more on that in my next blog post).

Remember, it’s not about the fancy setup - it’s about the excitement of the hunt!

4. Sensory Play for Springtime Fun

If your little ones love to get stuck in, Easter-themed sensory play is a brilliant option. Think:

  • Coloured rice with cut outs of eggs, Spring animals or flowers hidden underneath and waiting to be found.

  • Reusable eggs that can be filled with the coloured rice, dried chickpeas. Mine would stay occupied for ages when they were little with sensory trays if I added interesting things to fill like eggs or egg cups. These scoop and tool sets were also a big hit for extending their play whilst developing their fine motor skills.

  • Add mini bunnies, carrots, or pom-poms for even more scooping fun!.

Pair this with my kids’ aprons to (hopefully) contain the mess!!

So there you have it. A list of fun, simple Easter activities that are easy on prep, big on fun, and most importantly, might just win you that quiet cup of tea.

Wishing you a joyful, chocolate-filled Easter!
